Brindle Parkway Reserve in Box Hill is one step closer following Council's awarding of the tender to construct the new community asset.

The 5.3-hectare sporting complex will be located on the eastern side of Terry Road between George Street and Cart Street Box Hill and will feature a two rectangular playing fields and a cricket wicket.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi, said the $8.8 million build will create significant sporting opportunities for the community.

"Providing greater facilities for our community in our new release areas is a top priority of Council."

"As more people move into the growing Box Hill area, we will continue to provide them with the infrastructure they need, including large scale recreational and sporting spaces like those at Brindle Parkway Reserve," Mayor Gangemi said.

"This is only possible due to Council's strong financial management and commitment to creating infrastructure in Box Hill for its residents," he added.

Construction is expected to begin in the upcoming months and will include bulk earthworks, field irrigation and drainage works, tree and landscape planting and the installation of sports field lighting.

"Brindle Parkway Reserve will be Council's first sports field in Box Hill and I am excited that we have awarded a tender for construction and will begin work in the near future."

"The reserve will offer a host of sporting and recreational benefits to the community," Mayor Gangemi said.

"Included in the design is a half basketball court, two cricket practice nets, a local playground with picnic facilities and even a nature walk connecting the park through a riparian zone."

The reserve will also feature an amenities building with toilets, change rooms, kiosk, referees' room and sports and maintenance equipment storage area. The carpark will provide approximately 130 parking spaces.

"I look forward to seeing this fantastic reserve come to fruition and witness it being enjoyed by Box Hill residents for many years to come," Mayor Gangemi concluded.
