Bringing Hobart together during COVID isolation

Hobart Together: Physically distanced but still connected

Helping Hobartians to feel connected despite physical isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic is the objective of the City of Hobart's Hobart Together initiative.

The first stage of Hobart Together – a series of web pages containing useful information, advice and support resources – has been launched today, as part of the City's Resilient Hobart program.

Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said it was important that residents were able to access the support they needed through this particularly challenging time.

"If we are going to get through this as a community, we need to recognise that everyone is affected and that it's okay to reach out or ask for help," Cr Reynolds said.

"Hobart Together's key message is 'physically distanced but still connected'. We are aiming to connect people with the services they need, provide advice and information around staying healthy mentally and physically, and offer support through grants and other measures.

"Importantly, it also reminds us to be kind – both to ourselves and to others."

Interactive resources utilising the City's Your Say community engagement website and a social media presence, will be added soon to help members of the community directly connect with the City of Hobart and with other Hobart residents.

Resources designed to reach people in the community without easy access to technology will also be developed.

"Staying connected throughout this time of physical isolation is so important to our collective health and wellbeing," Cr Reynolds said. "As this pandemic evolves, so too will our response to the changing needs of our community."
