Two Saturday Gold Lotto wins landed in Brisbane on the weekend, with a Deagon dad and a private syndicate from Morningside each pocketing a life-changing $1.6 million.
The two Queensland wins were among the four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4585, drawn Saturday 28 June 2025. Each division one winning entry pocketed $1,629,922.69.
So far in 2025, Brisbane has celebrated 11 major lottery wins, totalling over $11.81 million in prize money.
The Morningside private syndicate's System 7 entry was purchased via The Lott app - the official home of Australia's lotteries, while the Deagon dad's marked 12-game entry was purchased at Sandgate News & Gifts, Shop 3/11 Bowser Parade, Sandgate.
Morningside woman and old workmates toast to $1.6 million Gold Lotto victory
A Morningside woman has surprised her old work colleagues with the exhilarating news that their lottery dreams have finally come true after their long-running private syndicate had scored $1.6 million in Saturday Gold Lotto.
"Thank you! That's insane!" she laughed.
"It's been a very happy morning for five of us. We've been playing for a long time and purchase random tickets here and there.
"We're all old work colleagues and despite not working together anymore, we still keep in touch; they're like family.
"I told the news to everyone on the weekend, and I couldn't get to sleep until 2am on Sunday morning. I actually woke up and thought I had dreamt this, and I was questioning the win.
"But now that you have called, it really seals the deal!
"I'm very happy, but very shocked."
When asked how she planned to enjoy her slice of the million-dollar pie, the delighted Morningside woman revealed her first splurge, starting with a shiny new toaster to kick off her winning streak in style.
"It will truly change everyone's lives," she revealed.
"I told my two sisters, and the first thing they asked was, 'What are you going to buy?' I laughed and said, 'A brand-new toaster as my old one finally gave up!'"
Deagon man's doubtful digits deliver $1.6 million Gold Lotto win
A Deagon dad who had considered removing the number 44 and 41 from his Gold Lotto ticket due to cultural beliefs surrounding the number four, is grateful he left them in his mix, as they played an important part in his $1.6 million win.
"Thank you very much! I was so shocked," he exclaimed when we relayed his million-dollar win.
"I checked the winning numbers on my computer over the weekend, and I thought it wasn't right. I had to double check it.
"I've been playing the same lottery numbers for 40 odds years. I've only ever changed my lottery numbers a couple of times.
"There was a point there where I nearly removed the numbers 44 and 41 because in the Asian culture, the number four is considered unlucky.
"It's funny because the seventh game on my ticket was the one that won, and number seven is often considered lucky across many cultures!"
The doting dad shared the wondrous win had come at the most perfect time as both he and his wife are near retirement age.
"My wife was busy at work when I had found out and I had to wait until she came home to let her know the good news. We ended up having a big chat about what to do next," he revealed.
"It's not going to change the way we live or who we are.
"It will go to our retirement, and we're going to hold off telling our daughters until the time is right."
His winning marked 12-game entry was purchased at Sandgate News & Gifts, Shop 3/11 Bowser Parade, Sandgate.
Sandgate News & Gifts owner Shiju Prasanna said selling a division one winning entry was pure joy and disbelief for him and his team.
"Our whole team is over the moon! We were cheering, smiling, and soaking in the excitement when we first found out we sold a division one winning entry," he shared.
"We're beyond proud to now be called a 'winning outlet.' It's a title we carry with excitement and gratitude. These wins don't just change one life - they lift the spirit of the entire community. We're honoured to play a part in such magical moments.
"We're going all out with celebration decorations with balloons, signs, and cheerful vibes everywhere! Our team will be handing out small treats, sharing the news with customers, and creating a fun, festive atmosphere all week long.
"They're going to love it! There's already a real buzz in the air. Many are curious if the winner is local, and it's filling everyone with hope and excitement.
"Over the past three years, we've sold two division one winning entries - one for Set for Life and now one for Gold Lotto. It's an incredible honour and a proud achievement for our outlet and team.
"A massive congratulations from all of us at Sandgate News and Gifts! We hope this life-changing win brings you joy, security, and the freedom to chase your dreams!"
