BUDGET 2019 PREVIEW: Putting Territorians First

Treasurer NicoleManison will deliver the third Budget of the Territory Labor Governmenttomorrow, that will Put Territorians First. It will do this by investing in:

CreatingLocal Jobs;

DeliveringA Safer Territory; and

DrivingGenerational Change.

Ms Manison todayconfirmed Budget 2019 will see another major investment in job-creatinginfrastructure following significant spends in the last two budgets.

Government hasalready announced that tourism will again be turbocharged through a $62.8million investment to attract more visitors, stimulate the economy and createlocal jobs. Turbo2 follows the success of Turbo1 that attracted more than57,000 extra tourists.

Budget 2019 willalso see another significant investment into children with a $1.28 billioneducation budget, and investment in frontline services that will fund morepolice than ever before.

Government willcontinue reforming the youth justice system to break the cycle of crime and putour youth on better paths. While early intervention and prevention is key,Budget 2019 will deliver consequences for youths who do the wrong thing bygiving police and courts better sentencing options.
