Building fire in Bathurst

Police are investigating after a fire destroyed a building in the state’s Central West overnight, NSW Police say.

About 12.05am (Saturday 5 May 2018), emergency services were called to a building on Browning Street, Bathurst following reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, emergency services found the building well alight. The Mid Western Highway was closed and diversions put in place while fire-fighting efforts took place.

The blaze was extinguished by several Fire & Rescue NSW units.

The building was totally destroyed however no one was injured.

A crime scene was established, and investigators from both Chifley Police District and Fire & Rescue NSW are now investigating the incident.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage, but due to the damage, a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
