Building Future In Kingston

Construction workers going over plans.

Builders, other tradies, and construction professionals are invited to a key industry event this month, as we partner with the Registered Builders Network (RBN) to host Construction in Kingston.

To be held from 5-9pm on Thursday 12 June, at the vibrant Morris Moor precinct in Moorabbin, the event will bring together local construction businesses, industry experts, and suppliers to explore the major changes shaping the future of building in Victoria.

Kingston Mayor Georgina Oxley said this is a fantastic opportunity for our local construction community to stay ahead of the curve.

"We truly value the work of our local tradies and construction businesses - they are the backbone of our city's growth and development," Cr Oxley said

"Council is committed to supporting them as the industry evolves, and helping ensure they have the tools, knowledge and connections to succeed."

Key topics and features of the event include:

  • Navigating recent regulatory changes and updates to the National Construction Code (NCC)
  • Understanding the VBA and Plumbing Commission merger
  • Embracing eco-friendly materials, green building technologies, and passive house standards
  • Updates on local planning processes

Speakers include:

  • Andrew Healey – Bowens: Innovation/Sustainability and NCC changes
  • Peter Densley – Kangan Institute: Education
  • Steven Baxas – Victorian Building Authority: The new Building and Plumbing Commission changes
  • Nathan Hawkins – RBN: Understanding the VBA registration process

The evening will include networking opportunities, product showcases from local suppliers, informative sessions, and the chance to speak directly with industry leaders and council representatives.
