Bulls bring heavyweights as early bird season closes

The Queensland Bulls Masters cricket team has confirmed its place in the upcoming Great Barrier Reef Masters Games, just as registrations enter the final days of early bird pricing.

To be held at venues across Cairns on 23-26 May, the 2019 Great Barrier Reef Masters Games (GBRMG) have already attracted 1100 athletes from every state of Australia and internationally.

Today, the Bulls Masters have announced they will bring some Australian cricket's biggest names to Cairns to 'compete on the reef'.

"The Bulls Masters will be announcing their line-up in the next couple of weeks, but we understand it will feature some very big names from one of Australian cricket's brightest eras – including one of our country's most successful captains," Mayor Bob Manning said.

With 23 sports registered, the 2019 GBRMG are expected to be the biggest yet.

"There are athletes from across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Papua New Guinea and even the USA registered for the Games," Cr Manning said.

"This year is shaping up to be the biggest we have hosted. There are more sports on offer, more entertainment and you get to experience all this on the doorstep of two World Heritage Areas, the Wet Tropics Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef."

The 2019 Great Barrier Reef Masters Games early bird fee is $68, plus sports fee, making it one of the best value masters games on the circuit.

All participants receive a great GBRMG pack with a duffle bag, cap, sunglasses, Games guide and discounts from local attractions, as well as access to three big nights of entertainment at the Games Social Hub.

The Great Barrier Reef Masters Games was first held in Cairns in 2013. Now in its fourth instalment, the GBRMG will be held from 23 to 26 May 2019.
