From flamenco guitars to Beethoven reborn, venues across Lake Macquarie will come to life with a bumper performing arts season.
Lifelong Learning and Audience Engagement Coordinator Kirrily Anderson is encouraging the community to get out and enjoy live theatre and arts.
"Our local theatres are bringing high quality performances to the stage. It's a great opportunity to get your culture fix right here in Lake Mac," she said.
For live theatre enthusiasts, The Sunshine Club is stopping by Warners Bay Theatre on 3 August as part of their national tour. Written and directed by proud Noonuccal Nuugi man Wesley Enoch AM, the musical play takes the audience on a journey through 1940s Australia, sharing a thought-provoking and uplifting perspective of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
Music lovers will be delighted by the diverse line-up at Rathmines Theatre in the coming months.
World-class musicians will take the stage on 28 August with Australian Haydn Ensemble's arrangement of Beethoven's Seventh.
Bringing together modern and period instruments for a historically informed performance, the show's well-known pieces will leap into contemporary focus.
For something a bit spicier, a flamenco performance by The Andalusian Guitar will paint Rathmines Theatre red on 8 September, with acclaimed Spanish guitarist Paco Lara and dancers following the beat to expressive Jerez style guitar playing.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said supporting the local arts scene was a wonderful way to experience the city's vibrant culture with friends and family.
