Burglary And Assault, Kirwan

Townsville detectives are investigating after a woman was seriously assaulted when a man forced entry to a Kirwan home early this morning.

Police were called to a Thuringowa Drive residence shortly before 3am after the man, gained entry.

The occupant, a woman in her 50s, was violently assaulted sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman was able to use an object to hit the male, before he fled on foot.

She was transported to hospital for treatment.

A crime scene was declared as investigation into the incident continue.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have noticed anything or anyone suspicious in the area to contact them or any home owners or businesses with relevant CCTV.
