Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a burglary and subsequent deceptions which occurred in Kew at the end of January.
The incident occurred at a residential home on Princess Street during the morning of Saturday 30 January.
Investigators believe a man entered the kitchen and took the victim's wallet from her handbag while she was in another part of the home.
The victim was unaware of the theft until she was notified that her credit card was being used at a local liquor outlet.
Detectives have released an image of a man who they believe can assist with their enquires.
