Townsville Detectives have charged a 20-year old Vincent man with two counts of burglary with breaking and one count of contravening a domestic violence order, in relation to incidents in Mount Louisa early this morning, 3 March.
Around 2.40am, police were called to an address at Buller Close following reports a homeowner had chased an offender who had broken into his home and stolen a sum of cash.
Around 3.00am police received reports a burglary had occurred at a Hilton Way address, a short distance from the first incident, in which a mobile phone and watch had been stolen.
Members of the Townsville Tactical Crime Squad (TCS), who were patrolling the area as part of Operation Yankee Forge, suspected the offender had remained in the area and began coordinating yard clearings and cordons with general duties crews.
The offender was located around 4.50am after with the stolen property.
The stolen property was returned.
While under arrest the man was also charged with contravening a domestic violence order relating to a previous incident.
He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today, 3 March.
No members of the public were physically injured during the incidents.
