Burglary charges, North Brisbane

A man has been charged over a series of burglaries on Brisbane’s northside after allegedly crashing a stolen car at Bracken Ridge this morning, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged around 5.45am a car was stolen from the driveway of a service station located on Gympie Road at Aspley.

At 6.15am the stolen vehicle was then involved in an alleged hit and run incident on Nudgee Road at Nudgee where another car was struck from behind. No was injured as a result.

It is further alleged that around 8am the stolen car hit a traffic sign and crashed into a fence on Norris Road at Bracken Ridge.

A man exited the vehicle and fled along Telegraph Road before allegedly entering a residence on Appledore Street where he was located by police and taken into custody.

A 30-year-old Murrumba Downs man has since been charged with six counts of burglary, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count each of robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, enter premises and commit indictable offence driving without a drivers’ licence and driving under the influence.

He is due to appear in Sandgate Magistrates Court today.

The charges relate to a number of burglaries at Deagon, Cashmere, Chermside and Shorncliffe between February 17-20, including a burglary with violence at a business in Cashmere on February 18 where a 37-year-old man was assaulted.
