Bus Finishes Busy Year Boosting Victoria's Small Businesses

The Andrews Labor Government's Small Business Bus has supported thousands of Victorians and visited hundreds of communities, helping small businesses grow, create jobs and boost the economy.

Minister for Small Business Adem Somyurek welcomed the bus in Ferntree Gully today for its last stop for the year, which has made more than 280 visits to 218 locations across Victoria in 2018.

The Small Business Bus helped 3,586 Victorians and increased its focus on regional Victoria, with more than half of visits taking place in our regions.

The Small Business Bus gives local businesses easy access to expert advice, face-to-face mentoring and important information, giving them everything they need to grow and thrive.

Small Business Victoria has also delivered 480 workshops to more than 5,300 participants across the year.

Small business is the backbone of our economy, with more than 576,000 throughout the state – generating almost half of all private sector jobs and contributing around a third of Victoria's output in goods and services.

That is why the Labor Government is backing small businesses with initiatives like the Australian Supplier Payment Code for fair and timely payments, and the Victorian Small Business Commission to resolve disputes quickly.

As noted by Minister for Small Business Adem Somyurek

"The Small Business Bus has delivered support to the doorsteps of thousands of local businesses across Victoria – creating jobs and boosting our economy."

"We know how demanding it is to run a small business, that's why we'll continue to give them the tools, knowledge and support they need to grow and succeed."
