Buses crash - Albion Park, NSW

Police are investigating a crash between two school buses at Albion Park this afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 3.40pm today, two buses travelling on Tongarra Road collided.

The buses were carrying about 40 students of varying ages from a local private school.

A number of the students were treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics at the scene.

A nine-year-old boy was transferred to Wollongong Hospital via air ambulance in a serious condition.

Five other children were also taken to Wollongong Hospital with various injuries including bruising and fractures.

The drivers of both buses will be taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are in attendance and will investigate the cause of the crash.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
