Bushwalker winched to safety, NSW

A bushwalker is in hospital with leg injuries after she was winched to safety from Wentworth Falls this afternoon, NSW Police say.

The 21-year-old woman, from Kellyville Ridge, was on a walking track when she slipped and fractured her right leg about 1.40pm today.

Police attached to the Blue Mountains Police Rescue Squad walked with Special Operations Team (SOT) Paramedics into the National Park to reach the woman; she was stabilised before an NSW Ambulance doctor was winched in from Ambulance helicopter about 4.15pm.

She was airlifted to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
