Wild weather could not dampen the enthusiasm of a dozen of Launceston's most talented, up-and-coming buskers as they took to the streets in the inaugural City of Launceston Busking Competition.

With $1500 in prize money up for grabs, 12-year-old guitarist Kaleb Reid strummed his way to the top prize, from singer/guitarist Laura Bye and vocalist Kiarnna in third.

Winners were chosen by the general public through an online voting system.

Kaleb received the most amount of votes, which helped him secure the $800 first prize, with Laura scoring $500 for second and Kiarnna $200 in third.

All three will now be invited to perform at the Harvest Market in Launceston on Saturday, May 21.
