Are you getting ready to start your Christmas shopping? Help bring some cheer to your friends, family, and Mount Morgan businesses by buying local!

Rockhampton Region Deputy Mayor Cherie Rutherford said that Council is very happy to support the Buy Local initiative by Mount Morgan Promotion and Development Incorporated (MMPAD).

"Shopping locally is a fantastic way to show your support for your community, as well as find some really unique and meaningful gifts," said Deputy Mayor Rutherford.

"Customers who spend $20 in a participating Mount Morgan business between now and 4 December will not only be supporting local businesses, they'll also go in the running to win one of seven shopping vouchers from a prize pool of more than $3500.

"This is the third year in a row we have supported the Buy Local campaign in Mount Morgan, and each year we are absolutely blown away by the community response."

MMPAD President, John Steinberger said he was happy that Rockhampton Regional Council's economic development arm, Advance Rockhampton, had come on board again this year to provide support.

"With Christmas just around the corner, there is plenty of opportunity for not only Mount Morgan residents, but anyone who shops in Mount Morgan to receive some serious voucher prizes," said Mr Steinberger.

"While it's obvious that the winners of the prizes will benefit from this promotion, MMPAD is hoping the businesses will have an increased turnover throughout this promotion – that's the real focus."

Winners of the shopping vouchers will be drawn at the Mount Morgan Christmas Tree Festival on 6 December 2019.

First prize is $1800, second prize is $900 and third prize is $540. There will also be four consolation prizes of $90 each.

First, second and third place prize winners must be at the draw to claim their prizes.
