CA Gov: CIPO Unveils 2023-2028 Business Strategy

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) has released its 2023-2028 Business Strategy, setting the organization's vision and the priorities that will guide us for the next 5 years. This strategy describes how CIPO will foster innovation and competitiveness in Canada by ensuring that the intellectual property (IP) system serves the needs of Canadians, and that innovators and entrepreneurs know the value of their IP and how to leverage it to prosper and grow.

CIPO's new strategy includes 3 main priorities:

  • Priority 1: Timely delivery of quality IP services through operational excellence and a modern client experience
    • Render quality decisions that are consistent, predictable and reasonable
    • Optimize turnaround times
    • Modernize the client service experience
  • Priority 2: Foster innovation and competitiveness through leadership and education
    • Increase IP awareness, knowledge and the effective use of IP by Canadians
    • Provide leadership to improve the IP system in Canada and globally
  • Priority 3: Be a high-performing organization that is built for the future
    • Establish a modern and healthy workplace
    • Recruit and develop a diverse and skilled workforce
    • Pursue management excellence
