Caboolture is celebrating the achievements of eleven young people who have graduated from a highly successful Palaszczuk Government education and training program.
Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said the Transition 2 Success program (T2S) was designed to help at-risk youth get their lives on track.
The evidence shows that 67% of graduates don't go on to offend within 12 months of doing T2S, and 97% go on to further education, training or employment.
"This the fourth group from the northern Moreton Bay Region to graduate from T2S to build real-world skills and benefit from hands-on training," Mr Ryan said.
"Today's eleven Caboolture graduates have embarked on an extraordinary journey and deserve sincere congratulations for their efforts.
"Among them are youth who have become known to police, faced challenges in mainstream education or difficulty in their family situations.
"T2S is a worthwhile investment in the youth of the northern Moreton Bay Region and our community."
Mr Ryan said Caboolture's newest T2S graduates had earned a Certificate I in Engineering.
"For this latest cohort of graduates, the sky really is the limit,' Mr Ryan said.
"T2S opens new pathways to further skills development and jobs.
"We know the key to turning young lives around is getting a job and developing professional and social skills for the best possible chance at a successful and rewarding life"
Minister for Child Safety, Youth and Women Di Farmer said the T2S program was one of a suite of initiatives helping young Queenslanders to break the cycle of youth crime and improve their future prospects.
"Many of the young people who participate in the T2S program have been in contact with the youth justice system or are at risk of doing so," she said.
"They are also often struggling with social disadvantage, exposure to domestic violence, drug abuse and unstable parenting as well as intergenerational unemployment.
"As well as earning some basic qualifications, T2S helps connect young people with other support services to help them stay on track like housing or drug and alcohol services."
T2S currently operates in 13 locations throughout Queensland, with hundreds of young people achieving qualifications in construction, agriculture and landscaping, engineering, hospitality and business.
