Council advises of the following road closures associated with the Cairns Festival Grand parade on Saturday 27 August, and Carnival on Collins on Sunday 4 September.
Grand Parade (Cairns City) – Saturday 27 August
- Lake St, from Minnie St to Florence St, 4pm-10pm. No parking from 6am-10pm.
- Minnie St, from Lake St to the Esplanade, 2pm-10pm
- The Esplanade, from Minnie St to Spence St, 5am-10pm
- Pier Point Rd (half road closure), no access to bus stops, 5am-10pm
- Southern Esplanade Carpark (Lagoon Carpark), western section only, 5am-10pm
Carnival on Collins (Edge Hill) – Sunday 4 September
- Collins Ave, from McLean St to Mayers St, 5am-6pm
- McCormack St from Collins Ave to Walsh St, 5am-6pm
- Goodwin St from McCormack St and Macdonnell St, 5am-6pm
- Walsh St, from McCormack St to Macdonnell St, 5am-6pm
- Friend St. from Collins Ave to Walsh St 5am-6pm
Residents and traders are asked to observe and obey traffic controllers and signs advising the changes to normal traffic conditions, and follow detours as sign posted.
