Background on the Capacity-building Hub

The Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) was created in 2015 with the unique mandate to help developing countries identify their capacity-building needs and gaps and to promote the active engagement with a wide range of stakeholders to increase the impact of capacity-building itself.

The Capacity-building Hub is a direct response to the PCCB's mission to enhance coherence and coordination of capacity-building under the Convention and the Paris Agreement, address current and emerging gaps and needs, and facilitate greater awareness of the scope and impact of capacity-building efforts.

The 1st Capacity-building Hub took place during COP24, where over 130 experts from approximately 90 institutions organized over 40 events and 190 activities on topics related to capacity-building.

At the 2nd Capacity-building hub during COP25, the hub itself grew to engage more than 260 experts from over 210 institutions, with close to 140 activities. While the 1st Capacity-building Hub laid the foundation for an inclusive and engaging platform for the flourishing community of capacity-building actors, the 2nd Hub further broadened the range of actors involved.

Building on the successful experience of previous years, the 3rd Capacity-building Hub will continue to be a space for experiences, solutions and ideas that can enable greater climate action as the world gathers speed towards 'a climate for a sustainable world'.
