Call for Information - Rock Throwing - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to an alleged rock-throwing incident in Alice Springs last night.

Detective Sergeant Carmen Butcher said the incident occurred about 11:45pm near the base of Anzac Hill on Wills Terrace, Northern Territory Police say.

"It is alleged that an unknown person threw a rock at a passing taxi, striking a 9-year-old male passenger in the forehead," he said.

"The boy was taken to Alice Springs Hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

Anyone who may have information about this incident is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers.

"Rock throwing is a cowardly and vicious act with potentially fatal consequences. We are lucky in this case that the boy did not lose his eye.

"Police will be targeting rock throwers and warn those who partake in this offence, that you will be caught," said Detective Sergeant Butcher.
