It's time to recognise the outstanding individuals who make Wagga Wagga a vibrant place to live.
Nominations for the 2027 Australia Day Awards are now open, with community members encouraged to put forward people who inspire, support and strengthen our community.
Nominations are open for five categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Environmental Citizen of the Year, Ted Ryder Sports Memorial Award, and the Walk of Honour.
Council's Events Officer Amy McDonnell said Australia Day committee organisers are urging community members to start thinking about local champions who make a meaningful difference.
"If you know someone who is making a significant contribution to the community, now is the time to tell their story and give them the recognition they deserve," Ms McDonnell said.
"Wagga Wagga is a generous community, made up of countless volunteers who give their time to support community organisations, sporting and cultural groups, youth initiatives, local charities and other causes.
"Often the people making the biggest difference in our community don't seek recognition for what they do.
"A nomination is a meaningful way to acknowledge their contribution and say thank you."
The 2027 Australia Day Awards Ceremony will be held at the Riverina Playhouse on Monday 25 January.
The Australia Day community committee is calling on the community to submit their submissions now.
