Call for Shellharbour lockdown to be lifted

We condemn the decision to include the City of Shellharbour in Public Health Orders that extend the stay-at-home requirements for a further four weeks.

Shellharbour has had no cases and no traces of COVID since a casual contact was reported on 18 June. In contrast, the Central West has been released from lockdown when its last known case was 20 July.

The people of Shellharbour should be rewarded for their hard work and following the rules. Our community should not be treated differently to other parts of the State.

Today, we have requested a meeting with the NSW Health Minister and the Chief Health Officer to further press for Shellharbour to be released from this lockdown.

Whilst we may be from different sides of politics, we are united in our support for our community as well as fair and reasonable outcomes.
