Calling all caravan and outdoor enthusiasts

If you are planning a getaway but not sure where to start, put the Sunshine Coast Caravan and Outdoor Expo in your diary for 30-31 August and 1 September.

The Caravanning Queensland event is taking place at Nambour Showgrounds and will feature more than 80 exhibitors who will be showcasing leading brands, latest models of caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, tent trailers and other recreational products and accessories.

There will also be demonstrations, information sessions and tourism information to help you plan your getaway.

The expo will run from 9am to 5pm on Friday 30 August and Saturday 31 August, and from 9am to 4pm on Sunday 1 September.

Division 10 councillor Greg Rogerson said caravanning was a fantastic way to explore the natural beauty of our region or venture further afield.

"We are incredibly lucky to have access to world-class beaches, beautiful hinterland regions and rainforests on the Sunshine Coast. Caravanning or camping is the ideal way to experience this natural beauty," Cr Rogerson said.

"I encourage you to get along and visit the expo and get some inspiration for your next trip – whether it's within our wonderful region or in another part of Australia."

Cr Rogerson said Sunshine Coast Council aims to position the region as Australia's premier regional events destination and events such as this expo are integral to achieving this.

"The Sunshine Coast is one of Queensland's most popular tourism destinations and its economy depends strongly on the tourism industry. "Events like this contribute to almost $3.5 billion being spent on the Sunshine Coast annually."

Caravanning Queensland General Manager Jason Plant said he was proud to be part of this inaugural event.

"The Sunshine Coast is not only a popular destination for caravanners, it also boasts a high percentage of recreational vehicle ownership," Mr Plant said.

"The Sunshine and Fraser Coasts are home to seven of the top 10 Queensland postcodes for recreational vehicle registrations."

"The people of the Sunshine Coast love escaping and experiencing the great outdoors in their recreational vehicles. This brand new ocaravan industry event, is the perfect place to see all the new, innovative and exciting products this fantastic industry has to offer," Mr Plant said.
