Council wants to know what people think of Cairns Libraries.
An online survey launched today (8 February) with a focus on the experiences of users of all ages, as well as tackling reasons why some people choose not to use libraries in Cairns.
Mayor Bob Manning said the survey would help Cairns Libraries develop programs to better suit the needs of the community.
"We will be asking the community to tell us what they think of our services, products, and facilities," Cr Manning said.
"Community expectations change over time and the information garnered from this survey will help inform Council on ways to enhance the experience for users.
"We also want non-users to do the survey, as we value their feedback on why they do not use the library and perhaps look at ways that we can engage them in the future."
Cr Manning said libraries were the cornerstone of a healthy community.
"Modern libraries give people access to literary works, the internet and technology, the opportunity to do research and importantly provide people with a sense of community.
"Through a range of programs our libraries also play a pivotal role in promoting and fostering a love of reading in children."
The survey is open from today (8 February) to 5pm on 7 March 2021 and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
