Campbelltown Events of 14 April 2023: Official Statement

Australian Paramedics Association (NSW)

The Australian Paramedics Association (NSW) has been made aware of a significant incident involving a Paramedic this morning.

At this time we will not be commenting on the events of this morning, other than to say that our thoughts go out to those involved in this incident and we trust that NSW Ambulance will commence the significant supportive measures that will be needed after an event like this.

This is a tough time for a very close-knit workforce, and is especially so for those involved.

Paramedics quite often work in a hostile work environment, and an incident like this only heightens the awareness of the important job that we do. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues who keep the NSW community safe and healthy. Violence against paramedics is never acceptable.

Our condolences go out at this difficult time to the Paramedics family, friends and co-workers. We would recommend anyone who is having difficulties with this situation to contact their Peer Support officers, Employee Assistance, and their GPs for support.

APA (NSW) will work to ensure those who need support receive it, and encourage paramedics to reach out to us for assistance if needed.
