Families and adventure-seekers are invited to experience the Hanging Rock Reserve like never before, with a rare overnight campout offering exclusive after-hours access to one of the Macedon Ranges most iconic destinations.
This once-a-year, family-friendly event on Saturday 21 February 2026 allows campers to stay overnight inside the reserve, enjoying ranger-guided experiences, an open-air cinema and uninterrupted time to explore the park from sunset to sunrise.
Each campsite is $85 per site for up to 6 people, with bookings essential. The ticket includes an unpowered campsite, a ranger-guided sunset walk to the summit, a PG-rated open-air cinema screening, and access to Hanging Rock Reserve until 5pm Sunday.
Hanging Rock Senior Ranger Team Leader, Shane Caruana said the campout offered a truly memorable way to experience Hanging Rock.
"Hanging Rock is such a special place and we're fortunate to be able to help manage and maintain it every day, welcoming visitors from across the state, country and even the world. It's not every day though that we open up the park to camping, so with any luck and some good weather, Campout at Hanging Rock will be a unique, family friendly experience that will give people a whole new perspective on this naturally stunning landmark – whether they're a first-time visitor, or a regular to the Rock."
Check in opens from 3.30pm, with campers free to explore the reserve, relax at their site, or join the guided sunset walk before settling in for the open-air cinema later in the evening.
