Can-Do Territory: Making it Easier to Seek a Liquor Licence for Events

NT Government

The Territory Government's Can-do Territory portal has been a huge success and is set to grow even further.

Since launching in February this year, it has already processed over 480 applications from new and existing Territory businesses.

Today the Territory Government has announced that the online portal is expanding to include liquor licence applications for special and major events.

Major and special event liquor licence applications represent the largest volume of liquor applications in the Territory each year, with 258 received in 2019-20, making up 73% of all liquor licence applications received.

Now event organisers in the Territory can apply for their special and major event liquor licences online through the Can-Do Territory portal, which allows business owners to track the progress of all their business applications with government one place.

Once the user submits a trackable digital form, they will receive a tracking number via SMS/ email which they will be able to enter from the website to view status updates of their application. This tracking number is unique to the applicant.

Timelines to process applications will depend on the type and complexity, with applicants encouraged to submit their applications well before the event date.

In-line with the Territory Economic Reconstruction Final Report, this addition to the portal is another step towards slashing red tape, centralising business information and providing tracking and transparency to online application processes in the Territory.
