The City of Canada Bay is inviting the community to share its feedback on a draft masterplan for Cabarita Park following the first round of community engagement.
Developed in collaboration with residents, visitors and park stakeholders, the masterplan sets out a 10-year plan for future upgrades and improvements to the popular foreshore park.
City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said the draft plan was shaped by over 100 community submissions gathered during the first round of community engagement late last year.
"Protecting the park's natural character, improving access and connectivity, and upgrading park amenities were among the key themes raised by the community.
"Other key priorities included improving safety and wayfinding and celebrating and preserving the park's local heritage and history.
"The draft masterplan directly responds to this feedback and sets out practical proposals for meeting our community's aims."
The draft plan identifies several potential future initiatives including additional tree planting and bushcare regeneration, the creation of a new 'foreshore loop' to Breakfast Point, amenities building upgrades, and more.
The City of Canada Bay will be hosting three drop-in sessions for residents to discuss the plans with Council officers and share their feedback in person:
- 9am-12pm Saturday, 22 August at Breakfast Point Community Hall
- 3-5pm Wednesday, 26 August at Cabarita Park Federation Pavilion
- 1-5pm Sunday, 30 August at Cabarita Park Federation Pavilion
Community members are encouraged to review the draft masterplan at Collaborate Canada Bay and provide their feedback by Sunday, 13 September.
