The City of Canada Bay has been awarded a $33,500 grant to deliver an important program at Concord High School, aimed at supporting students at risk of disengaging from their education.
The new program, running in partnership with Concord High School, will feature a series of dynamic workshops facilitated by experts. These workshops will focus on key areas such as skill development, confidence building and enhancing social cohesion, offering students a supportive and empowering environment to reconnect with their learning.
City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna welcomed the funding and the opportunity it brings for young people in the community.
"We are incredibly proud to have secured this funding to support our young residents at such a critical stage in their lives," said Mayor Megna. "This initiative is about more than just education - it's about helping students build the confidence, skills and resilience they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. We hope the program provides students a chance to connect with others and stay engaged in their community into the future."
This project has been funded by the NSW Government, through the NSW Department of Communities and Justice's Youth Opportunities program. The Youth Opportunities program aims to empower marginalised youth and enable them to actively participate in their community, improving their sense of belonging and strengthening their support network.
The workshops taking place at Concord High School will be tailored to meet the needs of students who may be facing social, emotional or educational challenges, with the aim of re-engaging them through an inclusive learning experience.
"Investing in our young people is investing in the future of our community," Mayor Megna added. "We're proud to be working with Concord High School and expert facilitators to deliver this program, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have."
