Canada's Sidhu Heads to China for Trade Talks

The Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, is travelling to the People's Republic of China, from April 12 to 13, 2026 to attend the China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) and visit Guangzhou on April 14 to advance Canada's work to diversify trade partnerships, create jobs and support Canadian businesses abroad.

In Haikou, Minister Sidhu will meet with senior government officials and showcase Canada's strengths in consumer goods, agri-food and lifestyle brands while at the CICPE. With close to 40 Canadian brands represented at the expo, the visit will help expand market access, strengthen commercial partnerships and promote Canadian exports to Chinese buyers and investors.

In Guangzhou, home to one of China's most powerful economic engines, Minister Sidhu will meet with business leaders and investors in priority sectors, such as consumer products, information and communications technologies and life sciences, to promote new trade and investment opportunities and reinforce Canada's role as a reliable, innovative partner.
