Cannabis plants seized, man charged near Tumut, NSW

A man faced court today after police allegedly located a cannabis crop in the state’s Riverina region yesterday., NSW Police say

About 10am (Wednesday 7 March 2018), officers from the Tumut Cluster of the Riverina Police District executed a search warrant at a property on Batlow Road at Willigobung, about 50km south of Tumut.

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the property. Police will allege the man was watering a crop of mature cannabis plants at the time.

During a search of the property, officers located and seized 301 mature cannabis plants, 10 plants grown hydroponically and over 1kg of dried cannabis leaf.

The estimated potential street value of the cannabis is $650,000.

The man was taken to Tumbarumba Police Station and charged with cultivate prohibited plant > commercial quantity, supply cannabis, and enhanced indoor cultivation plant for commercial purpose.

He appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 8 March 2018) and was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court (Monday 7 May 2018).

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to cannabis cultivation and supply to call Crime Stoppers.
