Car crashes into houses at Smithfield Plains, South Australia

Police are investigating a crash at Smithfield Plains overnight.

Emergency services were called to Coventry Road, Smithfield Plains about 1.30am on Saturday 18 September by reports a car had collided with several houses.

The Toyota Camry sedan had left the road out of control and crashed into one house and a parked Nissan X-Trail and caused minor damage to two other properties.

The driver, a 49-year-old Davoren Park man, was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment for injuries to his hands and shock.

An occupant of one of the houses was treated at the scene for shock, but there were no other injuries reported.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Police are investigating whether a medical episode may have contributed to the crash.
