Car Into Creek At Montacute

A driver was rescued from his car after crashing into a creek in the Adelaide Hills overnight.

About 2am on Wednesday 22 October, police received a report that a man had crashed in the hills. He had managed to send a text message to a family member but did not know his location and was out of mobile phone range.

Patrols searched the hills around Woodside for the man and his car.

About 4.30am, the sergeant spotted the vehicle's taillights out of the corner of his eye, lying on its side in a creek bed off Montacute Road at Montacute.

Emergency services attended and managed to extricate the driver from the car and creek.

The 56-year-old Nairne man was not seriously injured but was shaken by his ordeal and taken to hospital as a precaution.

His vehicle was towed from the creek.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.

Police urge all motorists to take care on the roads this morning, particularly through the Adelaide Hills.
