A woman is in a critical condition after the car she was a passenger in plunged into a dam in Healesville this morning, Victoria Police say.
Police have been told a man was driving the vehicle along a dirt driveway on a private property on Margaret Road about 10.20am before it veered off the road and into the dam.
The man managed to get out and pull the woman from the car.
The 36-year old Healesville woman was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are currently processing the scene.
The 32-year-old driver, from Healesville, is currently in custody and assisting police with their enquiries.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
