Carbon farming industry looks to blue carbon for new market opportunities

Opportunities to scale-up land sector carbon farming and develop new 'blue carbon' opportunities will be on the agenda at a two-day national forum starting in Queensland tomorrow (Thursday 29 August).

The forum comes in the wake of the disappointingly small 9th Auction by the Federal Government's Emission Reduction Fund (ERF) and ahead of the next quarterly account of Australia's emissions, due for release this week.
The forum will be opened by PNG's Minister for Environment, Conservation and Climate Change, the Hon. Geoffrey Kama, MP.
The Carbon Markets Institute's Carbon Farming Industry Roadmap reported the industry could generate up to $24 billion investments and over 20,000 jobs by 2030, with most of that to directly benefit regional Australia.
