Joint media release with the Hon Tim Mander MP and Rowan Holzberget MP
Carbrook Golf Club at Logan is back in the swing after the official opening of 4km of new concrete golf cart paths and repair works to the car park and first tee, which had badly eroded due to flooding.
The club was significantly impacted by flooding in February 2022 which caused its closure for seven weeks, with the golf course fully submerged under water.
Rocks were used to stabilise the banks, while the 4km of concrete paths will be more durable than the previous gravel paths which had to be rebuilt each time they were flooded.
Stronger sections of concrete have also been installed in areas that might need to be travelled by trucks and heavy vehicles in the future.
The $1.8 million repair works have helped the club fix major erosion issues and provide a more resilient golf course for the future, after it was hit by repeated floods from the nearby Logan and Albert Rivers in 2013, 2017 and twice in 2022.
The works faced their first significant test when Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred hit the region in March/April 2025, shortly after construction finished, but the concrete paths, car park and first tee passed the test with flying colours.
The recovery works were jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), including $1.54 million through the Community and Recreational Assets Recovery and Resilience Program, and $266,000 from the club.

"The Crisafulli Government is committed to helping communities bounce back from disasters so they can remain financially strong into the future and help communities remain active and healthy and the recovery program plays a vital role.
"More than half of the course at Carbrook is now serviced by concrete golf paths which were previously unsealed grass or gravel so the course will be far more enjoyable to play on and better protected from weather events.
"Golfers are now far more likely to drive on the concrete paths than up the fairway, which will protect the surface of the course.
"The look and feel of the club near the first tee and car park have been improved during the upgrade and will drive participation and encourage new people to join the club to try their hand at golf."
Quotes attributable to Carbrook Golf Club President Bruce Weston

"While the floods of 2022 were devastating at the time, without them we wouldn't have received the funding that we did to achieve this amazing result.
"Our club is now set up for a wonderful future where we will continue to do our part for the community and share our great game of golf with as many people as we can."
