Carers across Victoria are encouraged to participate in a new body advising the Andrews Labor Government on carer needs.
Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Luke Donnellan today announced the opening of expressions of interest for those wanting to take part in the new Victorian Carer Advisory Group.
The group will provide leadership on the rights, needs and preferences of carers and implementation of the government's Victorian Carer Strategy, the first whole-of-government strategy recognising carers.
Advice on particular groups in the carer community - such as younger, older, Aboriginal, LGBTI and culturally diverse carers - will be especially valued.
Chaired by Parliamentary Secretary for Carers Anthony Carbines, the group will comprise carers and representatives from carer organisations.
The group will meet twice a year. Members will be appointed for twelve months with the option of reappointment for a further year.

Victoria has more than 736,000 carers giving their time and effort to look after a family member or friend who needs them.
