Fully committing to the Alice in Wonderland theme of the event, employees went above and beyond and stayed in character all afternoon.

Carinity Brownesholme residents and staff transformed the Highfields aged care home for its annual Spring Carnival celebrations, tying in with the famous Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.

Residents also decorated their rooms and surrounding areas with Alice in Wonderland-themed displays.

Carinity Brownesholme Diversional Therapist, Jeannie Healy, said the residents "loved the richness of Alice in Wonderland with ideas and characters".

"The Mad Hatter Tea Party was just one of our celebrations with our Blooming Gorgeous social program also a hit with residents," Jeannie said.

"We love being part of the Carnival of Flowers in our own way as it is a big cultural celebration in the region."

Jeannie said residents and Brownesholme's activity committee are "very invested in our theme days and celebrations" - and also environmentally conscious when it comes to decorating the aged care home regularly for special events.

"We upcycle, recycle and reuse. Items used in last year's display were repurposed and reused this year."
