Cars damaged, man arrested in Redfern

A man has been charged after cars were damaged in Redfern yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police will allege a 51-year-old man damaged at least 15 cars parked on Walker Street, Redfern, about 7:15am yesterday (Monday 3 September 2018).

Police allege the man used a 1m piece of timber to smash the windows of the vehicles.

No one was injured during the incident

Officers from Redfern Police Area Command attended the scene and were allegedly threatened by the man before he was arrested.

He was taken to Redfern Police Station where he was treated by paramedics for minor cuts to his hands.

The man has now been charged with 17 counts of destroy or damage property.

He was refused bail before his appearance in Central Local Court today (Tuesday 4 September 2018).
