As a result, we have commenced work to facilitate CASA taking over these functions from the ABF.
To enable CASA to effectively administer all private ballooning activities, we are proposing changes to Civil Aviation Order 95.54 (Part 131 Recreational Activity and Specialised Balloon Operations) Instrument 2021.
This amendment will affect all operators and pilots of balloons conducting recreational activities and would be effective from 2 December 2023.
