Police have released CCTV footage as investigations continue into a car fire in Sydney's west earlier this year.

About 1.30am on Wednesday 2nd June 2021, emergency services were called to Bennett Road, Colyton, after reports of a vehicle fire.

The fire was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW; however, the vehicle was destroyed.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command commenced an investigation and CCTV was obtained showing an orange coloured vehicle, similar to a Ford Territory, parked in a nearby street.

Two people are seen to exit the orange coloured vehicle and walk towards the other vehicle, holding what appears to be a jerry can.

The people are seen near the vehicle engulfed in flames before running to the orange vehicle and driving away.

One person depicted in the CCTV is wearing a grey coloured jumper and white coloured pants while the other person was wearing a black top and beige pants.

Investigators urge anyone with information about the incident – or dashcam footage from the area at that time – to contact Nepean Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
