CCTV images released following serious assault in Narwee

Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries following an assault at a South West Metro Railway Station last month, NSW Police say.

About midday (14 February 2017) a 78-year-old man was sitting down waiting for a train to arrive at Narwee Railway Station, when an unknown man approached the older man, punching him multiple times to the head, then walked away.

Officers from Campsie Local Area Command attended and commenced investigations.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital for treatment for a suspected fractured eye socket.

Following investigations, police have released CCTV images of a man, who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man depicted in the images, is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged early to mid twenties, approximately 180cm tall, and of thin build.

He was last seen wearing a dark coloured shirt and shorts, black shoes, and carrying a black backpack.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact police via Crime Stoppers.
