CCTV released after man assaulted in Fitzroy

Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV footage as part of their investigation into an assault in Fitzroy earlier this year.

A 59-year-old Fitzroy North man was assaulted by an unknown male offender after a brief encounter outside a Brunswick street shop about 12.15am on 16 April.

The man sustained a fractured skull and was taken to hospital via ambulance.

Police have released CCTV footage and still images of a man they believe could assist with enquiries.

He is described as Caucasian with a distinctive blond haircut, shaved on the sides and long at the back.
