CCTV released after suspicious fire in Clayton South

Police have released CCTV of three people they are looking to identify as part of their investigation into a suspicious fire in Clayton South overnight.

Emergency services were called to the fire at an unoccupied factory on Meriton Place on Thursday 26 January about 10.20pm.

The vision released shows three offenders smashing their way into the property and arriving at the factory in a blue Volkswagen hatch.

The trio are seen kicking and forcing their way into the factory by smashing a front window with an unidentified tool.

Two of the offenders, carrying what appears to be a jerry can, gain entry to the factory before it appears an accelerant is poured from the factory to the footpath outside.

One offender then ignites the accelerant, causing the fire to spread and causing millions of dollars in damage.

The three offenders all appear to be male, with medium builds.

One offender appears to be wearing black pants, a black t shirt, black shoes and a black beanie with a headlamp.

A second offender is seen in all black clothing, with a headlamp.

A third offender appears to be wearing black pants, a long white t shirt, a cream-coloured hooded jumper and white shoes.

Anyone who recognises the offenders or with further information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report at www.crimestoppers.com.auExternal Link.
