CCTV released following extortion attempt, assault and public place shooting in Guildford

An investigation is underway after a man was assaulted with a gun following an attempted extortion and a public place shooting in Sydney’s west last year, NSW Police say.

Police have been told a 21-year-old man, who was inside a house on Bursill Street, Guildford, approached two men who were outside the premises about 4am on Sunday 24 December 2017, before a brief argument took place.

Another man, who was also inside the home, heard the argument and walked outside before the two men produced a firearm, threatened the residents and assaulted them with the gun, before fleeing the scene.

On Monday 25 December, police have been told a group of men returned to the house and again threatened the 21-year-old man, before fleeing the scene after police were contacted.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and spoke to the two men and commenced inquiries into the incident.

Investigators believe that two of the people outside the door in CCTV footage are likely to be able to assist with inquiries into the matter.

Just after 9.30am on Wednesday 10 January 2018, officers were called to the same location after a 50-year-old man had found holes, believed to bullet holes, in the front of the house and car.

A crime scene was established and was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Officers who are investigating the two incidents suggest they are targeted and are believed to linked.

Anyone who may have heard anything or witnessed anything suspicious during these two incidents is urged to come forward.

Crime Stoppers.
