Toowoomba Regional Council is inviting the Cecil Plains community to have a conversation with Councillors about their ideas for the town.
Mayor Geoff McDonald said the 'Community Conversations' event was aimed at gathering local people's vision for their town and area.
"Councillors want to hear directly from businesses, property owners and residents about their ideas for Cecil Plains and surrounds," Mayor McDonald said.
"We want to hear their aspirational ideas on ways to shape the development of the town and community. The gathering is not about resolving complaints such as potholes.
"This is an opportunity for the community to brainstorm their ideas with Councillors and have a conversation about the future of Cecil Plains."
Mayor McDonald said there would not be any pre-determined topics for the event.
"Residents are invited to discuss any ideas that fall within Council's remit. Taking a positive approach to discussing creative ideas and outcomes will give Council a better understanding of the community's needs and aspirations," he said.
Mayor McDonald said the format for the event would be an informal conversation with Councillors with catering provided. People will then have the opportunity to have their ideas recorded via giant notepads on tables inside the hall and to then have further conversations on specific topics with Councillors. All the feedback will be collated for consideration by Council.
The 'Community Conversations' event will be held at Cecil Plains Memorial Hall, 41 Geraghty Street, Cecil Plains on Thursday 7 September from 5.30 to 7.30pm.
