The CEFC has been recognised across multiple categories at the Agri Investor Awards for its role in establishing the Meldora agriculture and carbon platform. The $250m platform was established with global investment group La Caisse, alongside specialist agriculture and natural capital manager Gunn Agri Partners.
The CEFC was named:
- Winner of the Farmland Deal of the Year (Global)
- Winner of the Farmland Deal of the Year (APAC)
- Second for the Deal of the Year (APAC)
CEFC Head of Natural Capital Heechung Sung said the awards reflect the strength of the Meldora structure and the ability of scaled farmland investment models to deliver measurable climate and commercial outcomes.
"It's a great pleasure to win the prestigious Agri Investor Awards. Meldora demonstrates how institutional capital can be deployed at scale across Australian agriculture to support productivity, biodiversity and long‑term emissions reduction," Ms Sung said. "The platform reflects a long‑term investment approach to land‑based strategies that deliver verifiable environmental outcomes alongside strong fundamentals."
Meldora is a $250 million diversified agriculture and carbon platform, established with a $50 million commitment from CEFC alongside a $200 million investment from La Caisse, and managed by Gunn Agri Partners.
The platform integrates institutional scale agricultural production with largescale environmental plantings under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit scheme, supported by a long-term offtake agreement with Rio Tinto.
The CEFC works to help agri business and farmers significantly reduce their carbon footprint and invests to maximise the productive, sustainable use of Australia's natural capital assets. This includes reducing on-farm emissions, unlocking the sequestration potential of land and agriculture, and also bringing in new sources of capital across diverse agricultural and land use activities.
By supporting emerging technologies, carbon sequestration activity and emissions reductions, the CEFC continues to support the development of an investor environment that has the potential to enhance agricultural production and improve financial and environmental outcomes for investors and businesses on the land.
