A NSW man, 61, was sentenced by the NSW District Court today (18 December, 2025) to four years' imprisonment for obtaining a benefit by facilitating fraudulent visa applications and fraudulently obtaining Commonwealth business grants.
He will be eligible for parole after serving two and a half years.
The Central Coast man previously pleaded guilty to:
- One count of obtaining a financial advantage by deception from the Commonwealth, contrary to section 134.2(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth); and
The man also previously pleaded guilty to two Australian Border Force (ABF) charges of aid/abet/procure/counsel other persons to furnish documents containing misleading information to a person exercising powers, contrary to section 234(1)(c) of the Migration Act (Cth) and section 11.2(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth).

"People who defraud and mislead the Commonwealth are directly attacking the integrity of Australia's social systems and ripping money from the pockets of honest taxpayers," Det Supt Blunden said.
"These criminal actions have direct repercussions for the wider community, often taking money away from those who need benefits the most.
"The AFP will continue to work closely with our partners to ensure we identify any abuse of Commonwealth systems aimed at supporting our community, and making sure those responsible are brought before the courts."
